Sqwincher Wins 'Most Innovative' in OSHA's Beat the Heat Contest
MUSCATINE, Iowa (August 15, 2023) – The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently recognized KENT Precision Foods Group's brand Sqwincher as the “Beat the Heat” contest winner for providing effective heat-safety education.
“We’re excited about being selected as a winner in the Most Innovative category,” said Mike Dalton, Sqwincher Brand Manager. “Sqwincher can be found on the toughest job sites in America, ensuring proper hydration, a fundamental safety precaution for all workers no matter their job. This award is a testament to a great product we are proud to make.”
OSHA announced the contest in May as a way to help raise awarenessof workplace heat risks for both indoor and outdoor workplaces. They received 195 submissions to the contest, from 40 states, the District of Columbia and Guam, and selected eighteen winners across five different categories.
“We saw the contest as an opportunity to promote our hydration and heat-safety education program,” said Dalton, “OSHA's contest goals are core components of our Sqwincher brand’s Hydration 365 program."
Beat the Heat Contest Goals:
- Educate stakeholders, especially workers, and employers, about heat hazards in the workplace.
- Prevent heat illness by creating an awareness campaign that increases the public's knowledge about this issue.
- Highlight the dangers of heat.
- Motivate employers and workers to take action to prevent heat illness.
The team was required to submit a variety of materials including white papers, job site educational posters, access to Sqwincher University which houses a thorough set of online hydration and heat stress training, webinars, OSHA fact sheets and National Emphasis Program training along with additional heat stress information.
As a result of winning, Sqwincher’s program will be promoted across OSHA’s website, newsletters, and other communications.
